٢And the day resplendent

Wannahaari izaa tajalla

٣And Him Who hath created male and female,

Wa maa khalaqaz zakara wal unthaa

٤Lo! your effort is dispersed (toward divers ends).

Inna sa'yakum lashattaa

٥As for him who giveth and is dutiful (toward Allah)

Fa ammaa man a'taa wattaqaa

٦And believeth in goodness;

Wa saddaqa bil husnaa

٧Surely We will ease his way unto the state of ease.

Fasanu yassiruhoo lilyusraa

٨But as for him who hoardeth and deemeth himself independent,

Wa ammaa mam bakhila wastaghnaa

٩And disbelieveth in goodness;

Wa kazzaba bil husnaa

١٠Surely We will ease his way unto adversity.

Fasanu yassiruhoo lil'usraa

١١His riches will not save him when he perisheth.

Wa maa yughnee 'anhu maaluhooo izaa taraddaa

١٢Lo! Ours it is (to give) the guidance

Inna 'alainaa lal hudaa

١٣And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former.

Wa inna lanaa lal Aakhirata wal oolaa

١٤Therefor have I warned you of the flaming Fire

Fa anzartukum naaran talazzaa

١٥Which only the most wretched must endure,

Laa yaslaahaaa illal ashqaa

١٦He who denieth and turneth away.

Allazee kazzaba wa tawallaa

١٧Far removed from it will be the righteous

Wa sa yujannnabuhal atqaa

١٨Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness).

Allazee yu'tee maalahoo yatazakkaa

١٩And none hath with him any favour for reward,

Wa maa li ahadin 'indahoo min ni'matin tujzaaa

٢٠Except as seeking (to fulfil) the purpose of his Lord Most High.

Illab tighaaa'a wajhi rabbihil a 'laa

٢١He verily will be content.

Wa lasawfa yardaa
